Go-Karts, Laser Tag, Playgrounds and More in Montgomery County

If you’re just dying to drive like the wind without thinking about the cost of gasoline, Jay Lloyd has a getaway to fun this week that’s far from the pump.

by KYW's Jay Lloyd

It’s exciting and exhilarating as you grip the wheel and power a European-style racing cart through a serpentine track -- all without using a drop of gas.

At the Arnold's Family Fun Center in nearby Oaks (Montgomery County), Pa., there are as many adults as kids whipping around the course on the zippy carts, all powered by electricity.

It can be an individual run or a racing challenge. Tom Bobst, one of the center operators, notes that some of the crowd here starts to get Nascar stars in their eyes:

"You get the same experience as the race car drivers get. If you look at them, most started out in go-carts."

Howard Maris, a one-time drag racer, took a bit of time off from business to hit the track:

"It compares pretty nice. But now that I’m older, this is what I can do."

And there’s a lot more. The center features bumper cars, kids' rides, laser tag, and a sprawling arcade. Nearby, there is a 24-screen theatre, a hotel, and restaurants.

All close to home!
