Philadephia police have arrested two 18-year-old men, and are confident they will arrest a final suspect soon, in connection with the robbery and murder last Friday night of an elderly veteran outside a VFW post in the Strawberry Mansion section of the city.
Homicide unit captain James Clark says there is evidence that Karl Jarmon (above left), Terrell Bennett (above right), and one other suspect were out looking for someone to rob when they spotted 78-year-old Enor Williams talking with another elderly man on the steps of the VFW post on North 33rd Street.
Capt. Clark says they considered the old men easy targets and made their move:
"At which time they took the decedent, pushed him against the wall, took the gun and put it to his head while attempting to rob him. The decedent did struggle somewhat, and at that point he was shot and he was killed."
Williams was shot in the head (see previous story). Both Jarmon and Bennett are from the 3200 block of West Page Street.
Capt. Clark says the murder weapon has been recovered.
