A Game For All Ages -- And Both Genders

by KYW's Ed Abrams

Tiger Woods' dramatic US Open win was great theatre, even for non-golfers, and those in the industry hope it might push some people off the fence and get them to take up the game.

Pine Hill Golf Club head professional David Cartwright says no matter what season of life you're in, it's always golf season:

"The only sport that at any age that you start in, and as you grow older you can actually get better at the game of golf.  So I don't care if you're 20 years old, a teenager, or you're 50 years old, it's never too late to start golf.  And it is a game that lasts a lifetime."

Tiger's dramatics were perfect timing for a national initiative this month to introduce the game to more women.  Coming up on Wednesday, June 25th, Talamore Country Club will host a special event for Women's Golf Month, including free clinics, and trunk shows of apparel and equipment.

It's a private club, but all women -- including non-members -- are invited, and they can even play the course that day for for just a green fee, with tee times set aside from 9am to 2pm.

You can contact the Talamore Country Club pro shop at  215-641-1300, x103 or go to www.talamorepa.com.

And for more on all aspects of golf, join me on TV for Golfshots, presented by Buick, Sunday nights at 6pm on Comcast Sportsnet.
