Adobe Launches Free Web Version of Photoshop

by KYW's Bob Bicknell

The makers of the popular photo-editing software Photoshop have launched a free, online version (read AP story).

Photoshop Express should not to be confused with its powerful, yet very expensive namesake.

The free web application is much easier to use for simple photo editing, and is more like Google’s more established Picasa, which allows users to upload, sort and edit photos with simple tools and filters.

Photoshop Express requires Flash 9 - a free program you can download online - but can be used from just about any Internet-connected computer.

Once you upload your photos to your account, you can crop them, correct red-eye, change lighting and even use fun color or shape filters.

Adobe, which runs the site, hopes it will drive visitors to Photoshop or the $99 Photoshop Elements software packages.

The service is free during Beta testing, but you do have to register.

Visit photoshop.com/express for more.
