Arrest Made in Philadelphia Gas Station Stabbing

by KYW's Matt Leon

Philadelphia police have made an arrest in connection with the stabbing of a man at a Sunoco gas station at 5th and Erie back on March 20, 2008.   The search continues for a second suspect.

Philadelphia police Lt. Frank Vanore says the 54-year-old victim was stabbed seven times in the stomach and chest during a robbery, before the suspect fled.

Vanore says police soon received information that led them to 33-year-old Elias Delgado (photo above)  who was receiving treatment at a medical facility in the 100 block of Diamond St.  He was arrested and charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, robbery and related offenses.  Lt. Vanore says police have learned Delgado had help escaping the scene:

"East Detectives was also able to secure an arrest warrant for Emmanuel Velazquez (at right).   He is described as a 20-year-old Hispanic male,  5' 11",  150 pounds and he is believed to be operating a tan Honda."

Lt. Vanore says anyone with information of Velazquez' whereabouts should call police.  The stabbing victim has been released from the hospital and is expected to recover.
