Wednesday's Child

Ashanti

by KYW's Larry Kane

Ashanti is a 13-year-old who says she enjoys keeping busy:

"I love to dance and I'm supposed to do gymnastics."

But Ashanti says she really loves to play soccer:

"I like being on the team, and the team effort.  We all help each other out.  We go on different things, we practice with each other. Normally you become really good friends with your teammates."

Ashanti also has a creative side:

"Sometimes in my spare time I like to write music. I don't have a specific genre, because one minute I might like this and then next minute it's another thing."

Ashanti says that while she enjoys having fun, she understands how important it is to stay focused on her future:

"I'm about going to school so I can get an education to further my life goals."

Ashanti is hoping to find a permanent family:

"It would just have to be nice, caring. There's no specific type because you can't judge one type of person until you get to know them."
