High winds and freezing temperatures hampered firefighters battling a two-alarm Montgomery County fire on Sunday morning that gutted the home of Pennsylvania state senator Stewart Greenleaf
A fire of undetermined origin destroyed the Upper Moreland Township home, near Terwood and Paper Mill Roads.
Firefighters arriving on the scene around 3:30am reported heavy fire and requested a second alarm struck for additional manpower and equipment.
The state senator and his family, who were home when the blaze broke out, were not hurt.
In a statement, the state senator thanked the fire companies and volunteers for their efforts. Greenleaf says his family lost all their possessions, but are thankful for their lives.
