On Saturday April 5, 2008 Philadelphia will hold a one-day citywide clean up and on Wednesday a planning session was held to make sure everyone is on the same page for the event.
Hundreds turned out at City hall for the planning session to get ready for the Philly Spring Cleanup. Mayor Nutter was on hand to tell everyone how important this is to him:
"Thank you very much for caring so much about our great city of Philadelphia. There will be thousands of you actively engaged and involved in this."
The goal of the event is to clean up more than 5,000 city blocks across Philadelphia and remove more than one million pounds of trash and litter. SEPTA will provide free transportation for volunteers for much of the day, which will be capped with a barbeque at the Linc. For more information on volunteering go to www.phillycleanup.com. |
