New Jersey governor Chris Christie says his state is prepared for the second winter nor’easter to hit in less than a week.
Before addressing the second potential blizzard of his short term, Christie (in Sunday photo above) has had to deal with the first one:
"I will sign an executive order declaring a state of emergency in the counties of Atlantic, Cape May, Camden, Gloucester, Salem, Cumberland, and Burlington, based off the storm that happened Friday into Saturday."
That’s step one toward seeking federal aid for counties and towns.
This second storm presents a whole new set of challenges, as the governor sees it, given that it’s hitting midweek, when a lot more people are on the roads.
But given the storm’s expected track -- a little more to the north than the last one -- Christie is grateful because he doubts the shore could take another hit like it did over the weekend.
And he promised to make every effort to do what state crews did the first time: keep every major state road open.
