A 10 1/2 mile stretch of the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Montgomery County was scheduled for six hour a shut down in both directions just after midnight on Sunday.
Detours were set to be in effect while the turnpike is closed from the Mid-County Interchange in Plymouth Meeting to the Landsdale exit in both directions due to bridge work.
Mimi Lindelow is with the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission:
" We are going to be removing three sets of steel beams from the southern section of the bridge that carries DeKalb Pike in Whitpain township over the turnpike."
She says Its a part of a total reconstruction and six lane widening project.
"And the bridges they are advanced bridges which we have to widen first before we can widen the road."
