Little DeJon is your typical nine-year-old boy:
"I like to play video games."
Except that he dreams of things that other kids don't have to have to dream about -- like being adopted into a permanent family:
"I would really be happy when I first met my parents, so I would be loving."
DeJon dreams of being adopted into a big family:
"When I first meet them I would be nice to the brothers and sisters I would want -- and a dog."
Stephanie Bird is DeJon's family service specialist. She describes DeJon as a sweet boy:
"He definitely is very caring and loving, and he likes to play sports, and he's always very nice to teachers and his friends."
And she always looks forward to visiting with him:
"I love seeing DeJon when I first walk into his house because he always comes to me with a hug and he's always smiling and happy to see me."
Bird says older children are great because they don't need constant attention, yet they still look up to their parents:
"He's nine years old and he still has a lot of life to live. And he needs guidance and a permanent family so that he can really feel like he belongs."
She says the family that adopts DeJon would be lucky to have him:
"He would definitely complete a family because he's always smiling and he's got so much love to give and energy. And he really wants to be adopted and would really make the best of a new family."
