Dr. Brian McDonough



Brian McDonough, MD has been medical editor at KYW Newsradio since 1987. He has earned numerous awards in broadcasting including four Emmy Awards, the Walter Alvarez Award for medical writing, and the Jules Bergman Award for medical reporting.

Dr. McDonough is clinical professor of family medicine at Temple University's School of Medicine, and maintains an active practice as associate director of the St. Francis Hospital Family Medicine Residency.

Among his medical awards are the Sir William Osler Award for Bedside Teaching as voted by the students of Temple Medical School. He is on advisory commitees for the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine, the American Academy of Family Physicians, and the American Medical Association.

He also serves on the advisory board for a web site under the direction of the College of Physicians of Philadelphia, the oldest medical organization in the country still in existence. The site, www.phillyhealthinfo.org, is a nonprofit site dedicated to promoting health in the Philadelphia region.

Dr. McDonough is the author of three books and numerous medical publications. He is routinely asked to speak to both medical and non-medical groups, and his primary focus is healthy living through commonsense decisions.
