Drexel To Hold Meeting Focusing On Community Violence

by KYW's Karin Phillips

Drexel University in Philadelphia is holding a one-day workshop on Tuesday to discuss solutions for dealing with violence in the community.

Drexel University's Dr. Kenneth Hardy, co-author of the book "Teens Who Hurt," says a gathering of law enforcement, teachers, therapists, probation officers, social service workers, pastors and community leaders will focus on solutions for dealing with community violence, especially when it comes to children:

"What happens in the family is certainly critical, I think access to guns is critical, I think disconnection from various levels of community support; all of these issues come together to create a toxic mix that goes on to create the menace to society that we see."

The event is free and open to the public from 8am to 5pm at the Bossone Research Center Auditorium at 32nd and Market Streets.
