The classroom looked more like a café/kitchen during the University of Pennsylvania's Eat Local Challenge.
Marie Witt of University of Pennsylvania Business Services says students in the Eat Local Challenge got an education from their food:
"It's a way to let faculty and staff and students come out and show how their food choices are really impacted in their environments. And it's really fun to watch the students come and really enjoy the bounty of what is made from this region."
Executive chef Lydia Kumpa:
"Everything that in the café that's being served today was found within 150 miles of this location so from the cheese to the produce, the chickens we utilized in our entrées."
First year student Alex found chicken and mushrooms on the lunch menu:
"It's really nice because the food seems a lot fresher, probably there is less transit and it's also nice to know that you're being environmentally friendly. So it's really nice to have the overall experience to really support the local businesses and at the same time be able to eat healthy."
