Elderly Woman Recounts Terrifying Attack, Rape to Judge

by KYW's Tony Hanson

A 78-year-old woman described a terrifying home invasion attack in which she was raped at knife-point last June.

The victim, who says she was sure she was going to die, will return to the witness this morning reluctantly. She told the judge on Tuesday that coming in to court is like going through it all over again.

She has testified that she was attacked from behind at knife-point. The attacker cut her dress off, raped her, robbed her and made her kneel at the top of the basement steps. She thought he was going to push her down the steps and she knew she couldn’t survive the fall.

Instead, he told her not to tell anybody and fled. Asked how she responded, the woman said she called police.

The prosecutor says DNA links defendant Kevin McKeither to the crime. But the defense has challenged the DNA results, they say the crime scene was contaminated.
