There was dramatic and revolting testimony on Wednesday in the trial of a "skinhead" charged in the 1989 murder of a black man in Philadelphia.
Patricia Miller, 39, testified that her former boyfriend talked about his spider-web tattoo all the time -- and told her in vivid detail how he got it.
Miller told a jury in Philadelphia that Thomas Gibison (above and right), now 35, and fellow skinhead Craig Peterson drove from Delaware to Philadelphia on April 16th, 1989 in search of a victim. They soon found one, a black man walking down the street in Brewerytown.
According to Miller, Gibison leaned out the window and shot 34-year-old Aaron Wood in the head. She told the jury, "Tom said he would never forget the sound of the man's head hitting the pavement."
When asked why she decided to go to the authorities, Miller gave two reasons: a guilty conscience, and revenge. After they broke up, Miller says, Gibison beat and raped her. She also testified that when her dog went to the bathroom in Gibison's car, he made her watch as he shot the dog in the head and then finished it off with a baseball bat.
Miller was scheduled to be cross-examined on Thursday.
