Hopefully you are getting a chance to hit the beach, play in the park or hang out at the pool. If you are heading in that direction you might be considering wearing sandals, flip flops or even going barefoot. So, is it better for your feet to get out of the shoes and put on that casual wear?
Many people think this is the case but if the truth be known, once you get past a few hours there can be problems. For instance, flip-flops provide no support. Over time this can help contribute to or aggravate certain conditions such as plantar fasciitis and tendonitis. In fact, podiatrists say that wearing flats can lead to severe heel pain and blisters and crowding toes.
The bottom line, everything in moderation. There is no reason to wear high top sneakers to the pool. The key to footwear in the summer is balance.
