Get a Free Starter Golf Lesson During May

by KYW's Ed Abrams

May is PGA Free Lesson Month, part of the "Play Golf America" campaign.

Bala Golf Club head professional Chris Barletta says it's a great way to be introduced to a terrific game:

"I think it's a good opportunity to get involved in the game and learn it the right way from the start, versus getting some bad habits in the beginning and trying to find your way down the road."

The promotion offers a free ten-minute lesson, but Barletta says many pros spend more time than that.

And the  goal?

"To be able to enjoy the game.  To be able to have fun. Then the mechanics will kick in to where you want to learn your grip, aim, and setup.  But really with this program, you want to get people hooked on golf."

To find a participating PGA professional near you, just click on www.playgolfamerica.com.

Meanwhile, we're preparing a brand-new season of "Golfshots," starting next month on Comcast Sportsnet.  Stay tuned!
