Glenside's Historic Keswick Theater Has New Owners

by KYW’s Lynne Adkins

A Montgomery county theater has a new owner, but patrons shouldn't notice much of a difference.

The Keswick Theater in Glenside is now owned by AEG Live a concert, entertainment and sports promotion company which bought the property from Entertainment Group Fund in Florida. The price was not disclosed.

Roy Snyder, the theater's senior talent buyer says the sale is no surprise:

“It's been in the works for the last year or so. It will mean an expansion of the programming here. Everyone is very excited about this.”

He says the 1,300 seat theater opened its doors on Christmas Day in1928 as a vaudeville and movie house. Now it's mainly a concert hall, but the Keswick also offers some theater; much of it aimed at children. Snyder does not expect the programming focus to change.
