A fascinating mix on this week's video calendar! One of last season's boldest films offered a portrait of Bob Dylan -- but not just one portrait. It was a half-dozen actors (including Cate Blanchett, right) with their own takes. The movie, perhaps a little too esoteric for general audiences, still offers some remarkable performances under the title I'm Not There.
Other new releases include P.S. I Love You, starring Hilary Swank, First Sunday, with Ice Cube and Tracy Morgan, and The Hottie and the Nottie, starring Paris Hilton in a comedy that failed to attract most of us.
But here is a release you may want for your video library -- especially if you have children whom you feel are not being attracted by today's releases.
Under the title Hiya, Kids a '50s Saturday Morning, there are four disks loaded with treasures from the '50s, including "Kukla, Fran, & Ollie," "Howdy Doody," "Flash Gordon," "The Pinky Lee Show," and more.
Other seasonal attractions: the latest Oscar-winning short films, and individual video collections from such comics as Jack Benny, Johnny Carson, and Red Skelton.
Juno is clearly the most popular vido seller and rental.
Next week: The Great Debaters, a true-life story starring Denzel Washington.
