Wednesday's Child

Jay

by KYW's Larry Kane
Produced by Jim Melwert

Jay is 16 years old, and he's a well-rounded teenager. Not only does he love sports like football and basketball, he also loves to cook:

"Sometimes I cook breakfast and lunch."

(Larry:)  "Now, how are you doing in school?"
(Jay:)  "I'm doing good."
(Larry:)  "You get good grades?"
(Jay:)  "Yeah."
(Larry:)  "What's your favorite subject?"
(Jay:)  "History."
(Larry:)  "What do you like about history?"
(Jay:)  "The teacher's funny and makes the class fun."
(Larry:)  "Is there any particular character in history that you like reading about?  How about Martin Luther King?"
(Jay:)  "Yeah, I like reading about him.  He showed people that they don't have to turn to violence to get through to people."

Jay has a smile that lights up a room:

(Jay:)  "I like to joke around a lot."

And Jay just wants the typical family experiences, according to his family recruiter, Ben:

"You know, spending holidays together, going to church on Sundays, sitting down to watch a movie together.  I think things like that, Jay is really hoping to have experiences like those and just participate in a family."
