Latin Festival Feria del Barrio Starts on Sunday in N. Phila.

by KYW's Karin Phillips

This Sunday, one of Philadelphia's largest festivals of Latin music and culture, kicks off at noon on North 5th street.

Feria del Barrio, the party or festival of the neighborhood, is and is more than a neighborhood party - it's an annual celebration of the area of East North Philadelphia which is predominantly Latin.

Carmen Febo-San Miguel is president of the Latin organization, Taller Puertorriqueno:

"We want to educate, we want the event to be an opportunity for community economic development and we want the event to celebrate our arts and culture."

Events will take place beginning at noon on Sunday on North 5th Street above Lehigh Avenue.

There'll be lots of Latin cooking, info booths from community organizations, dancers offering hip-hop Latin style and lots and lots of music.
