Locals React to McCain's Request to Postpone Debate

by KYW's Jim Melwert

The general feeling was that people really wanted to believe John McCain was thinking of pulling out of the debate for all the right reasons, but cynicism ruled the day.

John from Gilbertsville says, "His poll numbers were slipping, right? So he's got to do something to something to try to get that up, get in the news. And I just think it was the wrong thing for him to do. And he should go to the debate."

But there were people who agreed with McCain's move, such as Roy Rossi from Rhode Island:

"Right now, I think all-hands-on-deck would be a good idea. Everybody should just put it aside, get this straightened out because this is going to affect all of us."

More than one person refused to comment saying the whole thing just made them too angry.
