Michelle Durham

Whether she is reporting from inside a burning building or aboard the deck of a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, KYW's Michelle Durham (at right in photo above) keeps her cool. And she's done both, as KYW listeners can attest.

Durham's  voice is a familiar one to Philadelphia radio listeners. She has been on the air in Philadelphia for many years, doing news and traffic reports for a number of stations before moving to KYW Newsradio 1060 in July of 2005 as a reporter and news anchor.

For one special series for KYW, Michelle went through actual firefighter training at the Philadelphia Fire Academy, graduating with her class in 2006. She went on to serve with Engine Company 50 in North Philadelphia, and her series A Firefighter's Journey won eight awards -- including two Edward R. Murrow Awards from the RTNDA.

Then, in 2007, Durham's series Delaware Valley on the Front Lines took her to the Persian Gulf, where she interviewed service personnel from our area aboard the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise, in the desert, and on an oil drilling platform.

KYW Newsradio was a homecoming of sorts for Durham, who began her professional career first as a public relations intern for CBS 3 (KYW-TV) before becoming a production assistant for Eyewitness News in 1985.

Michelle, her son Christian and daughter Caitlin live in Lower Gwynedd, Pa.
