An off-duty Philadelphia police officer is being called a hero, after he risked his life to help catch two muggers Tuesday night.
Patrol officer Antoine Green was unarmed and off duty, driving in Southwest Philadelphia, when he saw two men knock a woman to the ground and rob her. Green chased the men in his car. To evade him, they split up but police spokesman, Lt. Frank Vanore, says he stayed on the tail of the man with the gun.:
“His training took over, he don't like to see anyone treated that way, and he thought of people in his family and wanted to make sure, he put his own life in danger to make sure that individual was taken off the street.”
Vanore says the alleged assailant pointed the gun at Green's chest at one point and Green had to dive into his car but he was able to keep feeding information to police, who were able to arrest both men. The victim was not seriously injured. |
