A well known Olympic gold medalist was in Philadelphia on Wednesday, promoting sponsorships and those who help pay for the training of Olympic athletes.
It's been 24 years since Mary Lou Retton made Olympic history as the first American to win the Olympic gold medal in gymnastics. These days, although retired, she continues to cheer on Team USA from her living room:
"It's really fun watching the Olympics with my daughters -- of course the gymnastics, because they grab my medals out and they each take turns wearing the medal as we're watching gymnastics. It's so good! I have my little timer: I'm like, 'OK, your two minutes is up, give it to your sister.' "
Retton says people still remember her 1984 victories:
"I'll have people come up and still pinch my cheek and say, 'You're so cute!' And it's kind of wierd because I'm 40."
Retton says that Olympic team trials for gymnastics will be held in Philadelphia beginning on June 19th:
"I think we have a really good shot. I think it's gonna be a really good summer."
