Organizers of a revolutionary drug prevention program will rally in Capitol Hill on Wednesday to push drug testing as a means of prevention.
Debbie Moak is founder of notMykid, a non-profit organization promoting drug testing at home, is meeting with senators and representatives and others on many sides of issues at the Capitol - whether to drug test children at home, test them at school or don't drug test tweens or teens at all.
Moak says more and more parents are asking for home drug testing kits:
"They find that it's enhancing communication, in the privacy of their home, so it's not something that the school is doing to them or a doctor is involved. It's a real way for a kid to say no to their peers when asked to use drugs. They can simply blame their parents."
Moak says June and July are the most popular months of the year when there are new drug users, mostly among tweens and teens. |
