A study published this week put Philadelphia in the top 10 most affordable cities for college students and college graduates.

Temple University has 4,000 students living in on-campus dorms but another 6,000 to 7,000 living off campus.

One Temple student, Liz, originally considered a New York school but thought it was too expensive to live there:

"We would say that it is still little bit expensive (in Philadelphia) for a college student, more so than a suburb like West Chester."

Liz's roommate Kaylee says the experience of living in the city means everything to her:

"That's the whole reason I came to Temple. I don't think I would have come here otherwise."

She says they looked around for an inexpensive apartment:

"We found a place in South Philly that wasn't too bad."

So where do they spend their recreation time?

"Old City, Rittenhouse sometimes. That's a little more expensive, though (laughter)."

Christina is a senior majoring in English at Temple. She lived in the dorms for her first two years, then opted to get an off-campus apartment:

"I think it depends on what part of the city you are staying in. Up near this campus I think there are some apartments that are more reasonable than others. I think that places that are down the street a little -- Kardon and University Village -- are little pricey. But some of the privately owned homes that have landlords are more reasonable."

Christina says she doesn't plan to leave Philadelphia after graduation, either:

"I would love to stay here and continue studying after I graduate. I would love to go to graduate school in Philly."

And that's just what city officials are hoping for.
