The US Air Force will do a fly-by over the Memorial Day parade in the Bridesburg neighborhood of Philadelphia on Monday, as part of "Air Force Week" in the city.
Philadelphia is one of three cities chosen by the Air Force to host this year's Air Force Week, an annual event to show off the its assets and abilities. Mayor Michael Nutter on Wednesday designated May 26th to June 3rd a week of recognition for the Air Force.
Col. Balan Ayyar, the commanding officer at McGuire Air Force Base in New Jersey, says the city was an obvious choice:
"It really is America's city."
Mayor Nutter said he welcomes the chance to show his appreciation for the Air Force:
"Let me thank all of you."
Events include the Memorial Day fly-by in Bridesburg and over the Phillies-Rockies baseball game, and the Air Expo at McGuire Air Force Base, May 31st and June 1st.
