Price of First-Class Stamps Goes Up A Penny

by KYW's Mike Denardo

It now costs one cent more to mail a first-class letter.

The cost to mail a letter has gone up a penny, to 42 cents. Unfortunately, that is news to this guy who dropped a bundle of envelopes into the mailbox at 30th Street Station on Monday morning:

(DeNardo): "Did you remember the postage increase today?"

"No. For real?"

(DeNardo): "Yep. The price of postage goes up a penny today."

"Oh, man. I gotta tell my wife."

Customers who bought Forever stamps at 41 cents are avoiding the price increase. As for the guy at the mailbox, he's hoping for a little leniency on this first day of 42 cent postage:

"Who knows? Maybe they'll see it and let me slide."
