Push Underway to Give Gov. Corzine the Boot

by KYW's David Madden

There is a move afoot to recall New Jersey Governor Jon Corzine, an effort organizers admit will not be easy and state party leaders don’t seem all that concerned about.

Former Glen Ridge mayor Carl Bergmanson, along with his son and a cousin, filed the official papers last month. For him, the last straw came when Corzine recommended cuts in aid to municipalities across the state:

"It’s not a personal attack on the Governor. He seems like a nice enough guy. It’s a question of not doing the job."

To get the question on the November ballot, Bergmanson says they’ll need to gather 1.2 million signatures from registered voters by June 30th. They’ve gone online to get like-minded people involved.

The Governor’s office referred calls on this to the Democratic State Committee and they noted Bergmanson led another petition drive recently to get Pluto reinstated as a planet.
