The horse that took off through the streets of Germantown and Mount Airy Saturday afternoon and was hit by a car (see previous story) is said to be recovering well.
And that wasn’t the only good news for horse Princess on Mother's Day.
It was feared that she had leg fractures, but x-rays found none. Vets stitched up a deep cut in her right front leg, and they're giving her medication to ward off infection.
Heather Redfern with the Pennsylvania SPCA says the doctors also did an ultrasound:
"She's about three to four months pregnant."
The mare gestation period lasts nearly a year.
"The ultrasound seemed like it was fine. They'll have to do further tests along the way to make sure the baby is ok."
Officials say the horse was well-cared for. Its owner has signed over the six-year-old steed to the SPCA to keep an eye on the health of mother and child.
