Salil Gutt, who blends a perfect mixture of expertise and common sense on KYW's "Family Finance" reports, is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and the principal of Gutt & Company.
Before founding his company in 1986, Salil was a business and financial advisor to US and overseas companies. He also gained valuable experience with financial planning unit of American Express, where he counseled senior corporate executives at Fortune 50 companies who received the service as a company-provided benefit.
Gutt has an MBA in Finance from the Johnson Graduate School of Management at Comell University. Additionally, he has a Master of Science degree in Financial Planning from the College for Financial Planning in Denver. This is the highest academic accreditation in the financial planning industry. Fewer than 400 people nationwide have earned this
designation.
He also has an undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in Bombay, India.
Salil has lectured on business and financial topics to graduate students at Cornell University and the University of Texas at Dallas. He has also written on financial planning topics in Philadelphia area newspapers and is a guest columnist on personal finance matters for various regional business magazines.
In 1996, Business Philadelphia put him on its "100 People to Watch" list.
Salil lives in Chester Springs, Pa. with his two golden retrievers.
