Sentencing has been scheduled for November 20th for a former aide to indicted State Senator Vince Fumo. The aide has pleaded guilty to conspiracy and obstruction of justice.
Mark Eister, a computer support aide, has admitted he deleted e-mails and other electronic evidence to thwart the federal investigation of State Senator Vince Fumo, and that he did it at Fumo's direction and for Fumo's benefit. Federal prosecutor Robert Zauzmer:
"He has agreed to cooperate with the prosecution and in exchange hopes to get a benefit at sentencing."
If Eister cooperates fully, the government won't seek a sentence of more than two years in prison. Senator Fumo and another top aide, both of whom have pleaded not guilty, are scheduled to go to trial next month.
