Sgt. Liczbinski Laid to Rest

by KYW's Brad Segall

Following funeral services at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul in Philadelphia, the long funeral procession made its way to Bensalem where Sergeant Stephen Liczbinski was laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery (in photo above). (see full team coverage)

In an emotional and heart-wrenching service, there was last call. A dispatcher tried to reach Sergeant Liczbinski three times on his radio. When he didn’t answer after the third time, he was officially taken off the board.

"And from his police family throughout the entire city we would like to thank him for a job well done. 24 command. Yes sir.”

Hundreds of police officers, many wiping away tears, were among the mourners who said their final goodbye to the sergeant.

They came from Baltimore and Atlantic City and several departments surrounding Philadelphia. Near the end of the service, a fly-by of two Philadelphia police helicopters dipped their rotors in a final salute to their fallen colleague.
