Suburban Link Trolley Will Be Replaced By Septa Bus

by KYW's Michelle Durham

Change is coming for travelers who use the Suburban Link, the shuttle that runs between Collegeville and Upper Merion Township. The Suburban Link is going to be discontinued on September 8th.

Septa will be taking over the service area on August 31st and will replace the shuttle with its Route 99 bus. The bus will make all of the same stops as the Suburban Link, along with stops at a number of local businesses and shopping centers.

"All in all, it really pays dividends to the rider," says Septa spokesperson Gary Fairfaix. "They'll have greater mid-day service on weekdays and more trips, as well, so it will be a great advantage to our riders."

Some local officials also view the change as a positive step.

Updated Route 99 schedules will be available by the end of this month and will be posted on Septa's web site.
