Three Montco Townships Under Boil Water Advisory

Residents in areas of Norristown and East Norriton have been issued a boil water advisory. Terry Maenza with the Pennsylvania American Water Company says the situation stems from a water main break that took place at about 2:30am Saturday morning:

"It's a 16-inch water main, a pretty large transmission line which resulted in a loss of water service for approximately 1,500 customers."

Maenza says his company is aware of the water problems and workers are fixing them now:

"At the present time, many customers have low water pressure or are without water and as a result we've had to issue a boil water advisory for those customers."

Maenza runs down the directions for the boil water advisory:

"If the customers have lost water, they should bring their water to a rolling boil for about a minute and let it cool before using. You should use boiled or bottled water for drinking, making ice, washing dishes, brushing teeth and food preparation until further notice."

So how long will it last?

"If everything goes well, hopefully by Monday morning we can lift that boil water advisory."

He also says if anyone is unable to boil their water, a water tank has been set up at the former sears repair center at old arch road where people can cone out with their containers and fill them up with fresh water from the "water buffalo" that has been set up there.
