Tonight's Sporting Events to Clog Area Roadways

by KYW's Michelle Durham

Friday evening is going to be the perfect storm of traffic. Several events all going on at the same time in South Philadelphia spell trouble for area commuters.

The 76ers are playing the Suns at the Wachovia Center, the Phillies are hosting the Blue Jays at Citizens Bank Park and the Phantoms play at the Spectrum; all of the events start at 7:00pm. Let's not forget the Villanova fans who will pack Chickie's and Pete's in South Philly to watch the NCAA game.

Gary Fairfax from Septa:

"Septa's pretty much prepared for it. We have some sports express trains ready to take fans to the sports complex area. They can board the sports express trains at Fern Rock station at 6:18, 6:28 and 6:38."

He highly recommends you take one of them to the festivities and suggests those who normally drive in from New Jersey to take Patco to save themselves the inevitable heartache of trying to navigate their way home thought all that traffic.
