Tyshawn

by KYW's Larry Kane
Produced by Jim Melwert

Fifteen-year-old Tyshawn is so hopeful that he'll be adopted, he keeps a bag packed, ready to go.  And he's staying positive even though he's been in foster care for years:

(Tyshawn:)   "I've been in there six year of my life, and I've seen certain things that I could do, certain things that I can't do. There's a lot of things that I'd like and I can't do it."

(Kane:)  "So you you would find that having an adoptive family would open more oppurtunity?"

(Tyshawn:)  "Yeah."

As for what type of family he would like, Tyshawn says he just wants to be loved:

"I don't really look at the families, I just look at somebody coming to love me -- that will accept me inside their house."

Tyshawn is an usher in his church.  While he dreams of being a linebacker or a running back in the NFL, he's a hard worker in the classroom.  He wants to go to college and would like to be a police detective:

(Tyshawn:)  "If I become a detective, I can make an impact on people.  Say for instance if somebody is missing a loved one, and I find that loved one, then I feel like I'm making an impact on that person."

(Kane:)  "So you want to help society?"

(Tyshawn:)  "Yeah."
