US Airways to Offer Tel Aviv Flight From Phila.

by KYW's Paul Kurtz

US Airways has announced plans to add another international destination, this one in the Middle East.

The airline has filed an application to operate service between it's Philadelphia hub and Tel Aviv beginning in July of next year. Mayor Nutter says it's a perfect fit:

"There certainly is a tremendous Middle East and Israeli population in Philadelphia and the region and folks can now come right out of their own town to either travel abroad or gives us an opportunity to get visitors coming right into Philadelphia. They don't have to go to other cities up and down the east coast.

This is the first foray into the Middle East for the airline, which also has eyes on China, Turkey and Russia.
