America is expressing its concern about the latest unrest in Lebanon with the arrival of two warships in the region.
The USS Harry S. Truman, with 85 warplanes and 3,200 crew, is moored off Haifa, less than 10 nautical miles from the Lebanese shoreline.
Concurrently, the USS Cole, the destroyer that was attacked by terrorists based in Yemen is just outside Lebanon's territorial waters.
The presence of these and other naval vessels in the Eastern Mediterranean coincides with a report that Iran has deployed an army division in Lebanon and a conflicting report that an Iranian army brigade is en route to the troubled republic. |
