United Way Launches New Site for Local Volunteers

by KYW’s Karin Phillips

The United Way has launched a new web site that makes it a little easier for those who are searching for a way to volunteer.

The United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania is looking to increase volunteerism in the Philadelphia area, since Philadelphia currently ranks 39th in volunteerism among the nation's cities. By joining with the national Volunteer Match, people can go to the United Way web site, type in their name and zip code and find a way to help improve their communities.

Jill Michal is United Way president and CEO:

“There are a lot of folks who really want to give their time but they're just not sure how to do it. So this helps us as a region to bridge the gap between so many people who really want to help others and those who can really use that help.”
