Video Gamers Gather This Weekend at Pa. Convention Center

by KYW's Mike Dunn

Video game geeks of all ages and sizes were gathering at the Pennsylvania Convention Center on Friday for the start of a three-day convention devoted to everything from the old Atari to the new Xbox.

(Video game sound effects:)  "Prepare to fight!  (blam! blam!)"

Parents may be cringing, but that's a taste of the gaming goodness awaiting thousands this weekend at the video game expo at the Convention Center.

It's the second annual such gathering, and founder Ed Fleming, a Narberth, Pa. native, expects a big crowd, with pre-registration already ten times higher than last year's:

"This year we've added more content.  We have Japanese animé games, retro game titles. We've also added new things like technology (exhibits) and comic book content.  So the show is really growing into something much bigger than it was last year."

Also featured will be video game competitions, including one using the eagerly-awaited Starcraft 2, and a Wii Bowling tournament for us old folks.
