A well known restaurant guide --that surveys the public-- is out with its 2009 Philadelphia version covering more than 1,000 area establishments.

Zagat survey released its 2009 Philadelphia restaurants guide. It surveyed more than 5,000 restaurant goers.

Tim Zagat is the CEO he says Cochon in Queen Village -- featuring French bistro cuisine -- won top newcomer.

And for most popular restaurant?

"Buddakan. This year and last. The second one was Amada which was 16th last year, and is now up to number two and then Le Bec Fin which has always been one of the top restaurants going back 20-25 years."

And Zagat says Philadelphians are the most generous tippers in the nation leaving 19.6- percent vs the countrywide average of 19.0-percent.
