Zaire

by KYW's Larry Kane
Produced by Jim Melwert

Zaire is only six years old, but he's already a comic:

(Kane:)  "You have a lot of friends?"
(Zaire:)  "I make them laugh, yeah."
(Kane:)  "Why do you make them laugh?"
(Zaire:)  "Because I always say jokes."
(Kane:)  "You're a funny guy."

Zaire has plenty of time to decide, but he already has an idea of what he wants to be when he grows up:

(Zaire:)  "A doctor."
(Kane:)  "A doctor?  So you want to treat people who are not well?"
(Zaire:)  "I just want to make them laugh."
(Kane:)  "So you could be a comedian, like a star in the movies."
(Zaire:)  "I don't know ... yet."
Zaire loves to spend time in the pool:

(Zaire:)  "We go swimming."
(Kane:)  "Do you like swimming?"
(Zaire:)  "Yup."
(Kane:)  "Can you swim?"
(Zaire:)  "I can when I'm in a pool, but I can't when I'm out of the pool.  Then I just walk."

National Adoption Center spokeswoman Gloria Hochman says it's important for Zaire to find a permanent home while he's young, because with a bit of encouragement he can do almost anything:

"He needs a family that would be patient with him, that would be there for him to love him, to tell him how much they care about him."
