Fall is a great time to bring cut flowers into your home before a frost hits.
For a lot of folks throughout the country, fall blooms are at their peak. The last of the dahlias, sunflowers, zinnias, heliopsis and asters are still going strong.
Creating magnificent bouquets are easy. Early morning is the best time to cut the flowers of your choice. When you cut the flowers, keep the stems long. You can always shorten them later if you need shorter stems for the vase you choose.
Don’t be afraid to take what is considered the feathery or spiky flowers on perennial grasses. Include stems from shrubs to add texture, depth and color.
Use cool water in the vase and re-cut stems with a sharp pruner before arranging.
