Congressman Curt Weldon has added more people to his growing list of suspects he believes could be behind the FBI investigation into allegations that Weldon used his position to help his daughter and longtime political ally, Charles Sexton.
The Delaware County congressman says he got a tip Tuesday night from former FBI agent Greg Auld:
”He has confirmed the name of a person who works on my opponents campaign, who was bragging that three weeks ago, they knew this was going to come down. Now that to me is outrageous. If that occurred, it means that someone in the Justice Department was coordinating whatever was happening with a political campaign.”
Weldon says he does not have the name of the person working on Joe Sestak’s campaign, nor could he give the name of a Sestak supporter who, the congressman says, told him that former Congressman Bob Edgar had said that something was going to happen in October, but other names have been rolling off Weldon’s tongue.
In an interview with the Daily Pennsylvanian this week, Weldon accused former President Bill Clinton, the left wing group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, former CIA official Mary McCarthy and others of involvement in sparking the FBI probe.
