The New Jersey Supreme Court decision on same-sex couples could affect elections across the country.
The ruling comes less than two weeks before an election that could tip the balance of Congress, according to George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley:
”This is one of those judicial decisions that is going to have immediate political, and not just legal, implications.”
Conservatives are again using the phrase "activist judges" in response. Republican Senator Sam Brownback said the decision "deepens" a "constitutional crisis." House Republican Whip Roy Blunt suggested a Democratic Congress wouldn't "defend marriage."
