A 36-year-old Port Richmond man has been ordered to stand trial on animal cruelty charges after police found 22 abused pitbulls in his home while serving a warrant in an unrelated matter in June.
Prosecutor Derek Riker says an SPCA officer has testified the dogs were held in crates in the basement:
"There was only one small vent window and a fan in the basement. He said the conditions were decrepit and depolorable, that the animals were being kept in these cages standing in their waste and filth. And that they were all either below weight or suffering from bite wounds on their faces and legs and hind quarters."
Riker says the officer testified defendant Sidney Prosser admitted the dogs were his and he was breeding them.
