Now that Halloween is over, have you noticed the Christmas decorations on some store shelves and in catalogs arriving in your mailbox?
A new survey finds that residents in our area expect to spend more than the average holiday shopper this year.
A nationwide survey of 13,000 holiday shoppers found those in the Philadelphia area plan to spend more than average on gifts, decorations, and holiday entertainment than people across the country.
The average planned spending is $1,467. In this area it's $1,533.
Then there's Gayle (no last name given), who spends even more:
"About two thousand for the whole family."
And she doesn't wait until the last minute either; she's started her shopping already:
"A little bit here and there. Things that somebody says they like, then I see it and pick it up."
People here are specific about what they want, too, filling out 'wish lists.' Still, gift cards remain a popular choice to give and receive.
